Way back in 2015, we released the Autopilot and Zapier integration, enabling marketers to “automate away their busy work” by connecting over 500 apps to Autopilot in order to streamline their customer journeys.

A lot has changed since that time. Netflix decided to start streaming films. Millennials started wandering the streets trying to catch digital Pokemon. The ‘future’ date Marty McFly visits in Back to the Future II came and went (and we’re still waiting for our hoverboards). And in the last twelve months, most organizations globally have participated in a significant digital transformation.

Throughout it all, we’ve continued to witness the exponential growth in the technology available to businesses to craft better customer experiences, and create higher ROI for their campaigns. Accordingly, the Autopilot/ Zapier integration now enables users to connect over 2,000 apps to automate their workflows, whether that be nudging e-commerce customers towards their next purchase, or nurturing and routing leads to sales teams.

Today, in lieu of announcing the Autopilot/ Zapier autonomously powered personal levitators, we’re pleased to highlight two key updates that expand the functionality of our integration even further:

  1. Autopilot’s new Webhook shape; and
  2. Zap Templates.

Webhooks

With the Autopilot Webhook shape, users can push real-time information as soon as contacts reach a certain point in a customer journey. This will enable you to trigger zaps and pass contacts through to your API without using Lists. Additionally, the custom payload allows you to pass journey specific data about the contact, in addition to the contact field data.

Zap Templates

Zap Templates are Zaps that users and developers have created to help you get started connecting your tech stack, or to find a quick resolution to some of the most common pain points. For example, using Zap Templates you can:

  • Add contacts to an Autopilot list for new Unbounce submissions;
  • Notify Eventbrite registrants of event changes and updates:
  • Pass new leads from Facebook Lead Ads to Autopilot to send email follow ups;
  • Add new Shopify customers to an Autopilot list to create an audience in Google Ads, and send on an email journey to encourage repeat purchases.

Here’s some customer journey templates you can implement today by connecting your marketing apps through Zapier:

Show a personalized offer to contacts that come from your Unbounce submissions

When contacts make an Unbounce submission, you can automate a zap to add them to a list and in turn added to your journey. This journey allows you to send these contacts a personalized offer through a Headsup Message, and follow up with them via email if they don’t interact.

Notifying Eventbrite registrants of event changes

You can set up a zap so that when a contact registers for your event through your signup with EventBrite, they’ll be added to your ‘Event Registrants’ list in Autopilot. This journey is designed to be implemented when you need to update your event registrants of a change to your scheduled event or webinar. Now when contacts are zapped into your list, they’ll be kept up to date with your rescheduling, by email and by SMS.

Pass new leads from Facebook Lead Ads to Autopilot to send email follow ups

Zapier gives you the ability to track engagement with your Facebook Ads, and add these leads directly to your Autopilot account. This means that as soon as a lead shows interest in your product on your social channels, you’ll be able to follow them up with engaging content that persuades them to purchase your product. Sending them on an email nurture, when they engage with your content, your sales team and quickly reach out to them and get them on the way to success.

Connect your Shopify store to Autopilot with Zapier

One of the most popular series of Zaps are those developed for e-commerce businesses looking to connect their Shopify store to Autopilot. Connecting Autopilot and Shopify is extremely easy and requires no coding experience.

Here are some example customer journeys you can implement for your e-commerce store:

Nudge your customers to purchase again by sending them on an email nurture

This journey allows you to follow up with contacts after they have made a recent purchase and their order has been fulfilled. Using Zapier to pass this information to Autopilot, you can incentivise customers at exactly the right time, encouraging them to purchase again, by sending them similar items and sales offers that might interest them. You can also target them on your social channels, to ensure you’re staying relevant and top of mind.

Increase your revenue by recovering more abandoned carts

This recover abandoned carts journey is designed to recognize when a customer has left their cart, and send them reminders and incentives to get them back on track and purchasing. By zapping across a contact’s cart details, you’ll be able to track the contact’s engagement with your store and content, as well as stay top of mind by targeting them on social channels. When they return to their cart, you’ll be able to successfully zap this information back to Autopilot, and ensure the customer is removed from this journey.

Organise timely order progress updates to your team for unfulfilled orders

This Order Progress Updates journey gives you the ability to recognise when an order has been marked as unfulfilled, and notify your team to follow up and rectify this. If the problem persists, another follow up will occur, to ensure the order is resolved. Made possible by Zapier, you can easily zap information about a customer’s order status to Autopilot by adding them to a list. Using a small operational journey to mark the contact’s order in Autopilot, this journey can keep your team and the shipment process running smoothly.
